1.Amla
Amla or the Indian gooseberry is the best winter gift we get. It is one of the richest sources of vitamin C. Moreover, the ascorbic acid present in amla gets concentrated if we try to preserve the fruit –which means the vitamin C values of the dehydrated amla are more. And in our country we have dry amla shreds, amla candies, amla powder and even tablets to consume all year round. In winter, we can have amla –as it is, with salt or also as a juice. It is a great fruit for skin and hair, a great antioxidant; it also has good amounts of fibre and hence is good in case of constipation besides having many other ayurvedic benefits.
2.Oranges
Oranges are another kind of fruit with high levels of vitamin C which is an antioxidant. They also supply potassium and so are good for patients with high blood pressure.
3.Strawberries
Strawberries are rich in antioxidants and some great phytochemicals as well as other lesser known pigments, stock your winter with strawberries.
4.Carrots
The sweet variety of carrots is available only in winters. A glass of juice a day or a little carrot halwa sometimes will keep you away from vitamin A deficiency.
5.Green leaves:
We get a variety of these in winter and all of them have multiple benefits for our body. Eat the most in winter as our body can assimilate nutrients better in this season.
